February Wrap Up

February was a rough month for me. I went two whole weeks without touching a single book. I just hit a deep reading slump as soon as I got House of Sky and Breath in my hands! I had to take some time off from reading so I could find my love for it again. I made reading a chore rather than something I can do for fun. Even though I took the two weeks off I still read five books, which is amazing! Lets see what I read and what I rated them.

What I Read

“Weather Girl” By Rachel Lynn Solomon

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Ari is working her dream job as the weather girl for the local news station and her boss happens to be her childhood hero, Torrance Hale. The only issue is that Torrance isn’t the best mentor, she is way too focused on making her ex husbands life difficult rather than to help Ari grow in her profession. The problem with this is that it creates a hostile work environment.

When a work Christmas party gets out of hand, Ari and her sports reporter co-worker Russell devise a plan to get their bosses back together and to bring happiness and structure back to the news station.

Now that Ari and Russell are working so closely together maybe more than just one relationship can blossom.

“The Last Thing He Told Me” By Laura Dave

Rating: 4 out of 5.

“The Unhoneymooners” By Christina Lauren

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Olive is the complete polar opposite of her twin sister Ami. Olive is just unlucky in all aspects of life where as her sister who is getting married to a nearly perfect guy can now get married for practically nothing when she wins contest after contest to help her plan her dream wedding.

This leaves the Honeymoon up for grabs and there is no way unemployed Olive is going to sit and mope in her lonely apartment while her enemy gets to enjoy an all paid trip to Hawaii.

The catch? They have to put all hatred aside to put on the perfect show of a happily newlywed couple so they don’t get caught committing fraud. Can these two put their hate aside to enjoy a once in a life time vacation or will they get caught in all their lies?

“Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark” By Ridley Pearson

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“It Ends With Us” By Colleen Hoover

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Lily had a rough childhood in Maine, watching her father abuse her mother and her mother never doing anything about it. She vowed that she would never let a man mistreat her.

She moved from Maine to Boston and quickly met a very attractive Neurosurgeon name Ryle on the top of an apartment building. Both had a lot on their minds so these two strangers decided to open up to each other revealing their naked truths. They quickly got along but this would need to be their first and only time meeting because Ryle only does one night stands and Lily wants a life partner.

Fast forward six months and Lily and Ryle’s paths cross again but this time they can’t seem to stay away from each other. Lily is kind, sweet and caring while Ryle is hot headed, arrogant and extremally stubborn. The most unlikely pair but what do they say? Oh yeah, opposites attract.

“That’s the thing about depression. You can know it’s there, know it’s part of you, but you can go ages without seeing it. It lives with you, an invisible roommate, up until the time you start sinking, and then it sprawls itself across your couch and kicks its feet up on your coffee table and uses up all the hot water. Never pays its half of the rent, either.”

QOTD: How many books did you read last month?

July Wrap up

At the beginning of this month I made a pretty big TBR hopeful list for myself that I really wanted to tackle. Did I complete my hopefuls or did I fall short? Lets find out!

The Honest Truth

These three books were my main hopefuls for this month! I got “The Maidens” and “One Last Stop” in my June Book of the Month box and was dying to read them! “Devil’s Knot” came in a true crime premium book box from One Night Stand With a Book and I have been dying to read it since!

I am going to be honest with you, I only read one of these hopefuls and that was “One Last Stop” by Casey McQuiston. I know I will get around to the other two books hopefully soon! I have read so many great reviews about “The Maidens” that I need to hop on that train soon!

What Did I Really Read

Did you really think I only finished one book this last month? I am a slow reader but come on, I’m not that slow!

I read a total of four books this month, one of which was a graphic novel. Have you read any of these books? Would you count a graphic novel towards your reading goals?

Five Star Ratings

“One Last Stop” by Casey McQuiston

I gave this book a five star rating because it truly deserved it!

The characters in this LGBTQ book were written so well and I could really find someway to relate to each and everyone of them. From true crime to psychics you can find some reason to love these characters.

I hope everyone will give this book a try.

“Black Lantern” by Chris Bodily

This was my first ever graphic novel, I stumbled across this gem at an art festival in Utah! Turns out Chris is also from Utah and created this gorgeous piece of work!

The cat Julius is my absolute favorite! He is so cute and hilarious! I haven’t wrote an official review yet but you should give it a look!

Four Star Reads

“Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens

I gave this a four star read because it didn’t fully live up to the hype but was still really good! It started off a little slow but the ending was so good!

This is a very talked about book and honestly I would be so surprised if you haven’t read this one yet, but if you haven’t here is your sign!

Three Star Reads

“A Type of Hunger” by Pamela D. Beverly

I found this book just scrolling through blogs and read a comment about an author wishing for some more reviews, and so that’s what I did.

This book received three stars because it had many grammar errors that were very distracting and the story felt very rushed towards the end.

This was a self published book so the grammar errors make sense and are expected. Please support Indy Authors!

Overall

Last month went a lot better than I originally expected. I have lately only been reading two or three books each month so to get four books finished I am pretty happy with that! I am hoping I can keep this momentum up for August and read at least four books!

QOTD: How many books did you finish this month? Did you read all the books on you list or did you mood read?
