I am not sure what I will be reading next. I just made a TBR jar and I think it will choose my next read. I now have about 90 books in this jar that I need to read!
I decided to take part in this weeks WWW Wednesday hosted by Taking on a World of Words. This is a tag where you answer three questions.
What did you recently finish reading?
What are you currently reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
I have seen this tag many times before and some people take part weekly which is amazing! However, I am a very slow reader and I can’t promise I will be able to have new content each week but maybe just participating when I can will be just as fun!
What Did I Recently Finish Reading?
“Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” By J.K. Rowling
⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 3 out of 5.
“Desperate Measures” By Katee Robert
⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 3 out of 5.
Wow, I guess I didn’t really love either of these books, I mean three stars isn’t bad but if it was me I would see this and maybe not pick them up. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets just didn’t live up to the first one and drug on way too long! Desperate Measures was a twist on Aladdin but it is a spicy story of Jafar and Jasmin and Ali (AKA Aladdin) is the bad guy. I want to say there are some trigger warnings to be aware of such as Consensual non consent, M/F and F/F sexual situations and bondage. This may not be appropriate for all readers and may make some uncomfortable. I am a huge Disney fan and picturing Jafar as a lead sexy man was way too hard, he isn’t attractive at all in the movies, in my opinion at least. Not only was it hard to picture him and Jasmin together but the writing also wasn’t all that great. I’ll say there were some really good spicy scenes and I guess that is the real reason you are reading it any way.
So over all not my favorite books but I will continue onto the next book in each series at some point.
What am I Currently Reading?
“Maybe You Should Talk to Someone” by Lori Gottlieb
This is written by a therapist using her point of view being a therapist but also being the patient as well. The thought that a therapist needs a therapist feels a little funny but also totally valid. Therapists are people too and we all reach times where we need someone to talk too.
As someone who struggles with anxiety and depression this book has been very eye opening in why it is good to open up and talk about those dark thoughts in your head. I don’t currently have a therapist but because of this book I have started looking for one! I can’t wait to finish this book.
What Do You Think You’ll Read Next?
These are my top three books for the month of October. I have heard “The Ex Hex” is a super cute witchy read. I’ve been dying to read “The Shinning” mostly because Halloween is next month and this feels like the best spooky read out there! “Raven Born” Is an Urban Fantasy read from a local to Utah author and I have been craving a good fantasy read ever since I finished “The House in the Cerulean Sea”.
Have you read any Stephen King books? What is your favorite?
What spooky reads do you have planned for next month?
