2022 Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag

We just started July! This year has seriously flown by and I am not sure how to feel about it. So far this year I have read 33 books which compared to last year is crazy because I read a total of 35 books last year I believe so I have basically already surpassed last year in just 6 months!

I am excited to start this last half of the year because my birthday is only a week away! What a way to start these next 6 months, right?

Today I will be going over all the books from the first six months of this year. This Book Tag originated, I believe, by Chami. I don’t think I participated in this tag last year so I am excited to actually be apart of this tag finally this year! Lets Dive in!

The Best Book You Have Read So Far In 2022

“It Ends With Us” By Colleen Hoover

This book was written very well in my opinion. This stole my heart and broke it in half all at the same time. I was so in love with this book that I now have a tattoo for this book so I will forever remember how this book made me feel. I highly recommend this one!

The Best Sequel You Have Read In 2022

“Heartstopper” Volumes 3&4 By Alice Oseman

These two books in the Heartstopper series were my favorite! They talked so much about mental health and feeling comfortable in the LGBTQ+ Community and just left me feeling all the emotions! This is a graphic novel series that everyone needs to read.

A New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To Soon

“The Messy Lives of Book People” By Phaedra Patrick

This came out back at the end of May and it was in my most anticipated releases for June but I have yet to get a copy of it on my shelf. This is one that I know I will really enjoy and I can not wait till I can actually read the book.

Honestly I haven’t seen this book talked about anywhere which really surprises me!

Most Anticipated Release For The Second Half Of The Year

“It Starts With Us” By Colleen Hoover

This is the second book of “It Ends With Us” (My Favorite book of the year so far) so I am extremely excited for this book to come out in October! I haven’t pre ordered it yet but I know I will be getting my hands on this book as soon as it comes out!

So far Colleen Hoover can do no wrong in my eyes! I have only read two books so far by her but I have so many of her others high on my TBR that I need to get to.

Biggest Disappointment

“Darling Girl” By Liz Michalski

I had such high hopes for this book because I am a huge Disney fan and I love Peter Pan stories however, this one fell super flat for me. I Knew it would be a dark twist on the classic Peter Pan Tale but I read half the book and nothing had happened. I was so bored that I DNF’d this book half way through. I just didn’t look forward to ever reading it so it wasn’t worth my time in the end.

Biggest Surprise

“A Flicker In The Dark” By Stacy Willingham

I know I really like thrillers but I hadn’t heard too much about this book going into it. Once I started reading this book I couldn’t put it down. This was easily a five star read for me!

Favorite New Author (Debut To You)

Alice Oseman For sure! She wrote the “Heartstopper” Graphic Novels and “Loveless” Both were easily five star reads and I really can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of her books!

Newest Fictional Crush

Easily my newest fictional crush comes from Emily Henry’s new book “Book Lovers”. Charlie I feel is the perfect broody man. He is a booklovers dream boyfriend and by far my favorite book boyfriend I have ever read about!

Newest Favorite Character

Starr From “The Hate U Give” is such a strong character and she really made an impact on my life. Her and Her story will stick with me for a life time and I think everyone needs to read this book to learn about her story and her character. I think the whole cast was wonderful as well.

A Book That Made You Cry

“Ace” By Angela Chen

This might be cheating but I haven’t actually finished this book yet but this book means a lot to me and I may only be 30 pages in but I have already cried a few times based on it’s topic. I am really enjoying this book and I am taking my time to mark and fully understand everything this book talks about. I know I will reread this book several times!

A Book That Made You Happy

“Loveless” By Alice Oseman

Once again this book was easily five stars. don’t get me wrong, there were parts of this book that made me want to chuck it against a wall based on characters misunderstanding each other however, This book in whole made my heart sing! I love the Ace representation in this book and I love how Georgia was able to find herself and start to fully understand who she is. This is an amazing book!

The Most Beautiful Book You Have Bought Or Received This Year

I am seriously Obsessed with this cover! The cover is actually the main reason I ordered this book, I had no clue what this book was about and honestly still don’t. This book is 800 pages long which is super intimidating so I haven’t even tried to start reading it yet.

What Books Do You Need To Read By The End Of The Year

Best Book To Movie Adaptation You Have Seen So Far This Year

“Heartstoper” Is not a movie but it is a TV show on Netflix. Me and Noah fell in love with the graphic novels and then quickly fell in love with the TV series. They casted this show so perfectly! I had high hopes and they exceeded those expectations a million times. I am so excited for the fifth book to come out I think next year. Netflix also renewed the show for two more seasons! Nick and Charlie will live on!

The first half of this year has been really amazing and I can’t even imagine how the last half will go! This last half starts with my Birthday on July 9th so I do think that is a great way to start it off! Here’s to the next 6 months!

QOTD: How did the first 6 months of the year go for you?

My 6 Month Freak Out!

We are officially halfway through this year and it is freaking me out! I feel like 2021 just started less than a few weeks ago, am I right? With how fast this year has gone I feel like I have seriously lost track of my reading goals which is honestly stressing me out probably more than it should.

In todays post I would like to share my 2021 reading goals, some early awards, life events and some highlights. Lets dive in!

Seeing how this is a book blog I want to get this topic up first so we can dive right into what you are really here for.

As of July 1st me and my boyfriend have officially lived in our home for a whole year! This has been such an amazing adventure for us! We have been together for two and a half years and honestly living together has helped us grow so much closer as a couple and has also helped us become “real” adults. (This was one of our first ever pictures together)

This month is also my birthday! Here’s to surviving 22 years of life on this crazy earth! Last year Covid was in full swing so my 21st birthday wasn’t exactly how I expected it to be so I am hoping to celebrate with some of my closest friends this year! I will drop my amazon wish lists below if you would like to check them out.

Birthday wish list

Bookish wish list

I have some very exciting news that I am hoping to announce very soon as well! This will be something that I have been working so hard to finally get to, so I hope you are excited as well.

2021 Reading Goals

15/35 I am two books behind schedule according to my goodreads app.

Last year was my first time ever actually choosing to read books for fun. With that said I Started reading in late August and by the end of the year I had finished 15 books. So this year I set my reading goal just slightly above what I could have possibly read in a whole year, that number is 35 books!

35 books seems kind of like a small number to me only because I see so many people who can read half that number in a single month! I need to just stay focused on me though! Take things at my own pace and just enjoy reading.

June Wrap Up

This month I have mostly been focused on getting my blog up and running, which I did! However, at the begging of the month I said I wanted to read four books and honestly I only finished one!

“The Flatshare” by: Beth O’Leary

“Where The Crawdads Sing” by: Delia Owens

“How Lucky” by: WIll Leitch

“My Husbands Wife” by: Jane Corry

What I Read

“A Deadly Influence” by: Mike Omer

This book wasn’t even on my hopefuls list and yet it was the one book that I actually finished this month. I read this on my kindle and I really enjoyed this whole book!

Best Book I’ve Read So Far

“The Lost Apothecary” by: Sarah Penner is the best book I have read in 2021.

I love the story Sarah is telling to her audience and the beautiful picture that she creates. Also just look at how gorgeous the cover is!

Worst Book I’ve Read So Far

“Get a Life Chloe Brown” by: Talia Hibbert gets the title of the worst book so far in 2021.

This is probably not the book you were expecting to see here but unfortunately it’s true. I feel this book was way too over hyped and did not live up to those expectations for me.

Best Writing

“Not That Rich” by: Belinda Lei Is receiving the award for best writing so far in 2021.

I have chosen this book for this particular award because Belinda is an amazing story teller! She is able to transport you into her world with her beautiful talent for words. I felt like I was watching a movie rather than reading a book.

Most Anticipated Reads For The Rest Of 2021

These three books are currently at the top of my TBR. However, I only own “One Last Stop” by: Casey McQuinston. “The Last Graduate” by: Naomi Novik doesn’t come out for a few more months but I really can’t wait to get my hands on it! “The Guncle” by: Steven Rowley sounds like such a fun and cute read!

This year has really flown by and I am already a few books behind on my reading schedule. This month I am really hoping to read 4 books to get right on top of that reading goal I have. My TBR is growing very rapidly and I need to start reading a lot faster so I have room on my book shelf.

This year there has been so many amazing books being released, If only I could read them all. I actually have two boxes from Book Of The Month Club arriving soon along with a summer book box from One Night Stand With a book! My summer will hopefully be filled with some amazing summer reads thanks to these two Book Box companies. Down below I will post the link to these two services if you’d like to check them out! Also stay tuned for a few big announcements and a Book Mail post!

Happy reading and stay safe this holiday weekend!
